Sree Yashoda Ganamrutam – Introduction

The objective of the program 'SREE YASHODA GANAMRUTAM' is to create devotional awareness through the devotional songs composed by H.H. Sri Sri Sri Purandara Dasa.

Sri Purandara Dasa is believed to be an incarnation of the great Vishnu devotee, Sri Narada Muni. He followed the Dvaita Siddhanta philosophy as established by Sri Sri Sri Madhvacharya. He was the disciple of Guru Sri Vyasa Raja, who was the royal priest (Rajguru) of the Vijayanagara emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya and the incarnation of Sri Prahlada.

Sri Purandara Dasa primarily worshipped Panduranga Vittala of Pandharpur, Maharashtra. He composed approximately 4,55,000 devotional songs, many of which form the foundation of Carnatic classical music. For this reason, he is revered as the "Pitamaha" (founding father) of Karnataka Sangeeta. He also composed several songs in Sanskrit.

This is a singing contest conducted annually during the 'Sree Purandara Dasa Aradhana' festival.

  • The theme of the songs will be announced prior to the competition.
  • All participants must sing only songs related to the given theme.
  • Prizes will be awarded to all winners on the day of the festival.
  • open to all devotional individuals and children.
