SREE KRISHNAMRUTAM – Introduction

The object of the program ‘SREE KRISHNAMRUTAM’ is to create devotional awareness about the great epic ‘SREE BHAGAVATHAM’ in children. This is an objective test conducted every year on the occasion of the ‘SREE KRISHNASTAMI’ festival.

The epic Sree Bhagavatham was written by Sri Sri Sri Vedavyasa Maharshi in the Sanskrit language, who is none other than an incarnation of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu. He authored:

  • 18 Puranas
  • 18 Upa Puranas
  • 564 Brahma Sutras

He also divided the Vedas into four parts:

Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvana Veda, and hence is called Vedavyasa Maharshi. His birthday is celebrated as Vyasa Purnima or Guru Purnima.

Sree Bhagavatham has also been rewritten in several Indian languages. One notable version is the Telugu Bhagavatam written by Bammera Potana.

The great saint Sri Madhvacharya wrote the Sri Bhagavata Tatparya Nirnaya, a commentary based on the Bhagavatham in Sanskrit.

Important Aspects of Sree Bhagavatham:

  • The childhood of Lord Krishna
  • Stories of Dhruva and Prahlada
  • The Dashavataras (ten incarnations) of Lord Vishnu
  • The story of Gajendra Moksha

About the Exam:

  • The “SREE KRISHNAMRUTAM” exam is conducted online throughout the year.
  • The main offline exam is held just before Sri Krishnastami.
  • Prizes are distributed to all winners.
  • All children and students below 16 years are eligible to participate.
